Directions to Bus Parking at RFK Stadium
(Download Print Version)
For Sunday, April 25, bus
parking for the March for Women’s Lives will
be available at the RFK Stadium lot. Buses parking overnight may be sent to
different lots depending on date and time of arrival. Please note that there
will be no car parking available at RFK Stadium. Car parking is available at
Metro subway parking lots in the Virginia and Maryland suburbs: see http://www.marchforwomen.org/travel for details. Please
do not attempt to drive your busses to the National Mall: a number of major streets will be closed for the March, and you could be stuck
in traffic for hours.
One-day bus parking at RFK will cost $30 cash. Please factor
this into the cost of your bus tickets. RFK Stadium is a short Metro ride away
from the National
Mall, where the March will begin. We strongly recommend that you buy
your farecards (Metro passes) in advance: if one person has to buy
their farecard at the station, it will hold up the entire group. Delegations
coming into RFK Stadium on Sunday
morning and leaving that same evening should purchase farecards.
See http://www.marchforwomen.org/travel to
purchase your fare cards.
From the south (North Carolina, Florida):
Busses arriving from I-95
from the south should follow I-395 towards Washington. Crossing the 14th
Street Bridge, stay to the right, and do not exit at 14th
Street/Route 1. After passing the exit for “L’Enfant Plaza,” get
over to the left and merge onto the Southeast-Southwest Freeway (follow signs
towards Pennsylvania Avenue). Stay left and follow signs for RFK Stadium Parking:
a ramp leads directly from the freeway into Lot 8. After you
park, March volunteers in Lot 8 will direct you to the Metro station.
From the southwest (Tennessee, Alabama):
Busses arriving from I-66
should take the Capitol Beltway (I-495) south at Exit 64. At Exit 4, take
I-395 North, and follow directions listed above under “From
the south.” Do not take I-66 all the way into Washington: Constitution
Avenue will be closed for the March.
From the northwest (Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago):
Busses arriving from I-270 should exit onto the Capitol Beltway
(I-495) east at Exit 2. At Exit 22, get on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway
(Route 295)
southbound. Follow the Parkway south past the New York Avenue exit, to the
East Capitol Street exit westbound. Cross the Whitney Young Memorial Bridge,
and follow signs for RFK Stadium Lot 7. Proceed around the stadium to Lot 7
for parking. March volunteers will direct your passengers to the Metro station.
At the end of the day, pick
up your passengers in Lot 7. Do not use Lot 4 or 5 for drop-off and
pick-up.
From the north (Philadelphia, New York, Boston):
Busses arriving from I-95 from the north should take the
Harbor Tunnel (I-895) through Baltimore, and at Exit 4 continue onto the Baltimore-Washington
Parkway
(Route 295) south. (Otherwise, if coming down I-95, take the Capitol Beltway
[I 495] southbound to Exit 22 and exit onto the southbound Baltimore-Washington
Parkway.) Follow the Parkway south past the New York Avenue exit, to the East
Capitol Street exit westbound. Cross the Whitney Young Memorial Bridge, and
follow signs for RFK Stadium Lot 7. Proceed around the stadium to Lot 7 to
park. March volunteers will direct your passengers to the Metro. At the
end of the day, pick up your passengers
in Lot 7. Do not use Lot 4 or 5 for drop-off and pick-up.
N.B.: Only those busses directed by the March office to use Lot 3 should park
in Lot 3, regardless of their origin.
